Venezuelan gymnast Jessica López yesterday qualified for the 2012 London Olympics, finishing in fifth place in theArtistic Gymnastic Olympic Games Test Event, held in the North Greenwich Arena in London. 

The Venezuelan gained 13,700 points on the vault, 13,433 on the parallel bars, 13,700 on the beam and 13,166 on the floor.

This was even more impressive considering that López had some pain in one of her ankles following an injury she sustained three weeks ago.

López qualified with a total of 53,999 points and thus became the thirteenth Venezuelan athlete to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
