Salud, a film about Cuban Doctors, is screened at the Bolivar Hall.

The Bolivar Hall screened the documentary Salud which talks about the healthcare system around the world and the contributions Cuban doctors have made in ensuring that poverty-stricken countries are entitled to free health care.

The documentary also contains contributions from Ambassador Samuel Moncada whilst he was the Minister of Higher Education in Venezuela. He discussed about the Cuban healthcare system and the achievements by Cuban doctors in the Venezuelan health sector, particularly at Mission Barrio Adentro (social scheme to bring medical doctors to the poorest areas of Venezuela).

Aleida Guevara, the eldest daughter of Ernesto Che Guevara who is herself a medical doctor, also appeared in the video discussing about the achievements the Cuban government has made since 1959 in tackling poverty and also establishing a stable healthcare system which has assisted many countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Salud was produced by the BBC and directed by the famous film maker Connie Field.

The screening of Salud in which over 50 people turned up was the first of many screenings for the summer period. The next screening in the Bolivar Hall will be next Friday, 24th of July, showing Bolivar Soy Yo, in celebration of Simon Bolivar’s anniversary.
