Bolivar Hall hosts musical evening to celebrate the Bicentenary
The celebrated Mexican guitarist Morgan Szymanski performed at Bolivar Hall last Tuesday to commemorate the bicentenary of independence of Venezuela, Mexico and Argentina.
Szymanski interpreted various compositions by distinguished Latin American musicians such as Antonio Lauro, Astor Piazzolla and Manuel Ponce.
The guitarist, accompanied by his ensemble "Machaca", delighted the audience with waltzes by Lauro: El Negrito, La Gatica, El Marabino and El Totumo de Guarenas, as well as the well-known Libertango, Fuga and Misterio by Piazolla. As a special touch Szymanski also played the pieces Cuiden su vida and Estrellita by the Mexican musician Manuel Ponce.
Szymanski spoke of "the honour of performing in Bolivar Hall" and being of able to present his latest music. He also expressed his appreciation of the active participation of the embassies of Venezuela and Mexico in organising the event.
Ignacio Durán, Cultural attaché at the Mexican Embassy praised "the musical talents of Morgan Szymanski, the brilliant interpretations and the perfect selection of songs".
