Caracas, Jun 15. ABN.- The presidents of the Legislative branch of the countries that belong to the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) expect to define this Tuesday the creation of the South American Parliament during a Summit taking place in Quito, Ecuador.
According to a press release from Telesur, the parliamentarian leaders will deal with this matter after passing on Monday the Declaration of Quito, in which member countries committed to foster the approval of the Constitutive Treaty in their respective countries.
Specifically, the attendants agreed that the delegations of Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and Argentina that have already ratified the Constitutive Treaty of Unasur, will incentive the remaining 12 members that have not done it yet.
Within the Declaration of Quito, the South American parliamentarians express their firm will to move forward toward the constitution of the South American Parliament, in accordance with the article 17 of the Constitutive Treaty of Unasur. An additional protocol of the treaty will be voted during the second day of the Summit this Tuesday.
At 09:00 hours (local time) the additional protocol to create the South American Parliament will be read out for its approval. Then, they will debate over the parliamentarian cooperation in the Work Plan 2010-2011.
Afterwards, at 12:00 hours on Wednesday, the parliamentarians will present the options to promote a new regional financial architecture: the Bank of the South and the Unitary System of Regional Compensatory Payments (Sucre), before the closing ceremony.
The Summit is attended by the presidents of Chilean, Argentinean, Venezuelan, Colombian, Ecuadorian, Latin American, Andean, Mercosur, Indigenous of America and Amazonian parliaments. |
