First Venezuelan Film Festival at Bolivar Hall
The inaugural Venezuelan Film Festival in London took place at Bolivar Hall last weekend as part of the Bicentenary celebrations to mark Venezuela's Independence.
The Festival featured the most recent films produced by Villa del Cine and other Venezuelan producers.
Zamora, hombre y tierras libres, written by Luis Brito García and masterfully directed by Román Chalbaud was premiered to a large audience.
Libertador Morales, Postales de Leningrado, Comando X, and Perros Corazones among others headed the line up for this film season that is expected to travel to other cities in Great Britain.
Members of the audience expressed their gratitude at the opportunity to see a selection of Venezuelan films as very few are released in the UK.
The Festival was supported by the Venezuelan Embassy in London, Villa del Cine and the National Centre for Cinematography (CENAC) who provided the films. The Venezuelan Documentary Festival continues tomorrow, the 13th of April, at Bolivar Hall with a screening of Un Golpe y una Carta by the Venezuelan film maker David Segarra.
