Bolívar Hall stages the Afro-America project.
Venezuelan Percussionist Wilmer Sifontes and his band hosted the Afro-America project in the Bolívar Hall. Sinfontes and his band were inspired by the Afro-Venezuelan group “Un solo Pueblo”.
The night was filled with Afro-Venezuelan rhythms from different Venezuelan regions, such as: Meregues Caraqueños from Caracas, Gaita de Tambora from Maracaibo, and Fulia from Miranda.
The band also performed with special guest Diego Laverde Rojas, a harpist from Colombia, who played El Llano y Barlovento which is a combination of Musica Llanera and Tambores (music from the plains of Venezuela and Afro-Caribbean drums).
Sifontes and his band closed the show with an outstanding performance of “Sangueos” which is a type of music deriving from Africa which honors Saint John.
The event was filled with about one hundred people who also engaged in the Afro-American rhythms performed by Sinfontes and his band.
This is not the first time Sifontes and his group has played in the Bolivar Hall this year. They performed back in May launching the Cimarron Festival which celebrated Afro-Caribbean and Latin music
