Mezzo-soprano sings Spanish and Latin American songs at Bolivar Hall
An attractive Greek performer with an ebullient personality, the mezzo-soprano Marina Karagianni took to the stage at Bolivar Hall in London and made a success of signing a repertoire of Spanish and Latin American song recital.
Her operatic repertoire ranged from Canciones Clasicas Espanolas by Fernando Obradores to Chevere by the Cuban poet Nicolas Guillen and Coplas Venezolanas by the Venezuelan poet A. E. Blanco.
Mariana Karagianni’’s brilliant performance was accompanied on the piano by Neus Gulu Ritort, a talented Spanish musician who has a wide experience in various theatres across Europe.
At the end of the concert, they both received a standing ovation from the public and many remained seated to speak to both musicians and get more details about their artistic piece or work.
In June 2006, Mariana completed her postgraduate studies in lecture recital and dissertation on the subject of Percy Grainger’’s British folk music settings.
Over one hundred people attended this concert.
