Paraguayan harpist Martín Portillo pays an outstanding tribute to Venezuela with an excellent perfomance of Moliendo Café at Bolívar Hall.

The Anglo-Paraguayan Society with the support of the The Embassy of Venezuela and the The Embassy of Paraguay showcased Paraguyan harpist Martín Portillo at Bolívar Hall yesterday.

Martín Portillo is a Paraguyan harpist who began playing the harp at the age of 12, and by the age of 17 he became a professional harpist. Ever since he has enjoyed worldwide success.

He has travelled all over South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. He has also released 10 albums which have been recorded in various parts of the world, such as the United States, Europe and Japan.

The audience enjoyed a night of Paraguyan and Latin American rhythms from the harpist. He also performed songs which he had composed himself and compositions from well known Latin American harpists, such as Enrique Samaniego, Félix Perez Cardozo and Santiago Cortesi.

Portillo also paid tribute to Venezuela with an outstanding performance of  “Moliendo Café” by Venezuelan artist Hugo Blanco.

“Moliendo Café” is one of the most well known songs from the Los Llanos region en Venezuela.

The audience was very happy to see that the Venezuelan Embassy is staging diverse activities at Bolívar hall.

“Its great to come here (Bolivar Hall) to see a classical concert. I came to see Clara Rodríguez not long ago, and she was really amazing, and this evening I saw Martín. I think its excellent that Bolívar Hall stages events like this”
