Venezuelan Government to create National Unit of Financial Intelligence

Caracas, Dec 03. ABN.- The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela will create the National Unit of Financial Intelligence, an organ attached to the Vice-presidency, as part of the measures to strengthen the Venezuelan bank system, as informed the President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez.

During the Council of Ministers held this Thursday at the Miraflores Presidential Palace, the Head of State said that besides restructuring the public financial system, in both banking and insurance companies, it will be created an alarm system for the financial situation.

“This strengthens what we already have with the Superintendence of Banks and Other Financial Institutions (Sudeban); the Fund of Guarantees for Deposits and Banking Protection (Fogade); and the public bank system, in order to turn on the alarms in case of any irregular movement, so we can execute proper actions at the right time,” Chavez said.

Furthermore, the Venezuelan President said that these measures are aimed at increasing trust in State among population. Therefore, he urged citizens to stay calmed and not be manipulated “by the unpatriotic people, by those trying to sink Venezuela, although it will not. We get stronger from each problem we face.”
