A Taste of Latin Flavour in the Bolivar Hall
Latin atmosphere was all over the Bolivar Hall last Thursday, thanks to the performance of Edgar Macias and his quintet.
In what many described as a spectacular journey, full of Latin flavour, the jazz-band, directed by the Venezuelan pianist Edgar Macias, played a large variety of pieces by Venezuelan jazz artists and other works composed by Mr. Macias himself as part of his most recent production Fox Hunt.
The audience was absolutely receptive for the music of Macias from the moment the concert initiated. For example, Mr. Jose Echeverria; a professional musician who was among the audience affirmed: “As a musician, I feel extraordinarily satisfied with the work carried out by this quintet. They are an excellent band, one that achieves to transmit this flavour, this Latin essence by way of jazz.”
The band is conformed by: EDGAR MACIAS (piano), CHRIS BOWDEN (saxophone), BILL COLEMAN (bass), MILES LEVIN (drums), and WILMER SIFONTES (percussion).
Mrs. Ana Meneses thanked the Venezuelan Embassy for offering events like these for free to the public and added: “It is a pity that people do not fully take advantage of the offering in this hall.”
The concert was attended by the Venezuelan Ambassador in London, Dr. Samuel Moncada and a numerous public.
