Venezuela has 500 CDI to guarantee Venezuelans' health
Caracas, Oct 27. ABN.- Venezuela has 500 Integral Diagnosis Centers (CDI) and the goal for 2009 is to reach 600, in the framework of the revision, rectification and relaunch measures adopted by the Government for the health program Barrio Adentro II.
The information was given on Tuesday by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chavez Frias during a contact with the Venezuelan state-run television channel Venezolana de Television (VTV).
In addition, the Head of State stated that there are in the whole national territory 545 Integral Rehabilitation Centers (SRI) and the goal for 2009 is 600. Also, twenty-seven High-Tech Medical Centers are fully operative.
Additionally, the Head of State underscored that in the framework of strengthening Barrio Adentro II, there are 65 works under construction with a progress of 91%. Out of that number: there are 31 CDI, 15 SRI, and 19 High-Tech Centers.
Also, Chavez informed that 10,018 workers are working at the 500 CDI and 125 of the Centers have surgery rooms, which represents 25% out of the total.
The President of Venezuela emphasized that there are also problems in the Mision Barrio Adentro II, for instance, there is a deficit of more than 90 Intensivists, 24 anesthesiologists, 6 surgeons, 12 orthopedists; however, “we are speeding up the process to find this human resource.”
All these actions show the level of work and detail achieved with the three Rs strategy (Revision, Rectification and Relaunching) implemented to the Mision Barrio Adentro II, “and the entire people is already feeling the beneficial impact and the freshening of this social program.”
