Geographies of Power seize the Bolivar Hall

One of the political changes Venezuela has been experimenting with during the Bolivarian Revolution is the implementation of the concept of geometries of power. For this reason, Dr. Doreen Massey was invited to speak yesterday at the Bolivar Hall, before a full auditorium, about the characteristics of this political concept which is intimately related to participatory and protagonist democracy.

Professor Massey indicated that “from the concept of participatory democracy grew new organizational structures which exercise their power in different areas and territorial spaces”.

Furthermore, Massey referred to Communal Councils as “alternative forms of power, which are highly organized and are the voices of the popular sector in Venezuela”.

The event also served as an occasion to present her latest book, World City, edited by the Venezuelan Ministry of Culture.
