Venezuela bets on preventive policies in anti drug fight

Caracas, Sept 09 ABN.- The Venezuelan Government bets on applying preventive measures on its determination to build a country free of drug consumption, affirmed on Wednesday a representative from the Venezuelan National Anti Drug Fight (ONA, for Spanish), Rafael Sanchez.

The official affirmed that the idea deals with a social approach of the drug use problem very different to that boosted by the United States in Latin America.

“Previously, the North American Drug Enforcement Administration taught us just to repress,” he stated.

Sanchez expressed as well that Venezuela turns out now to education as principle to distance the youth from the abuse of substances harmful for health and societies.

Furthermore, he commented that other views boosted by the Venezuelan ONA are taking prevention to every corner in the country, developing diagnoses that help to identify everywhere the dimension of the consumption, and involving the media outlets in this campaign.

Finally, Rafael Sanchez added that the campaign denominated “Sowing values for life” coordinates together with the Venezuelan ministries and bodies with responsibility in the issue, for that reason there are being established trained communitarian advisors.
