Venezuelan Ministry of Tourism and the UK to promote tourism between both nations
The Venezuelan Minister of Tourism, Pedro Morejon, met Venezuela’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Samuel Moncada, last week in order to discuss the promotion of tourism as a means of strengthening solidarity and cooperation between both countries.
This meeting took place in Caracas, Venezuela.
During their meeting, Morejon and Moncada discussed the importance of increasing the number of visitors from Great Britain to Venezuela. To further this idea, they plan future activities to coordinate specific strategies to promote Venezuela as a potential tourist destination, given its human and geographical qualities. Such strategies would include the development of closer relationships between the two nations in the promotion of tourism, and in this way strengthen the spirit of solidarity between the two peoples.
According to statistical research, British nationals are by far the most frequent visitors to Venezuela, as compared to other nationalities. British tourists are particularly keen to visit places like Canaima (in south-eastern Venezuela) and the northern beaches. The Venezuelan Ministry of Tourism, nonetheless, is working equally hard to promote other areas of Venezuela of interest to tourists such as: the plains, the forests, the mountains, rivers and cities.
It is important to highlight that the Venezuelan Government and the Ministry of Tourism provide regular training courses to community councils, to assist them in developing local capacities for the preservation and maintenance of their own natural resources, which can then be developed into attractive tourist destinations, offer employment opportunities and promote biodiversity.
