Chilean guitarist dedicates concert to Chilean miners
The talented guitarist from Chile, Jose Antonio Escobar, offered a solo concert last night at Bolivar Hall to a packed audience.
Escobar, who has won several international competitions, began his performance with a few selected pieces by Luis Milan and Johann Sebastian Bach.
After the interval, Escobar greeted the audience and shifted his music to Latin America by interpreting pieces by Agustin Barrios of Paraguay, Javier Contreras of Chile and Astor Piazzolla of Argentina.
“I would like to thank both the Chilean Embassy and the Venezuelan Embassy, and also to all of you for coming over tonight. But most importantly, I would like to dedicate this concert to the miners of Chile”, said the artist in reference to the 33 miners trapped after the collapsing of the San Jose mine’s roof in Copiapo, Chile, on the 5th of August 2010.
At the end of the event, Chilean wine was offered to the public.
This concert was organized by the Iberian and Latin American Music Society (ILAMS), in collaboration with the Embassy of Venezuela and the Embassy of Chile.
